The maang tikka used to be a staple accessory for royalty and brides till under the garb of modernity its sightings became rarer than rare.
So after the saree and the bindi going global I was surprised to see the maang tikka being taken to the same level and that too by the iconic brand Chanel, at their Paris Bombay show held last year.
The clothes were elegant, gorgeous but muted, the focus clearly being on the accessories especially the maang tikka and the heavy khol laden eyes...just heavenly.
So thank you Chanel for bringing back the old in such a contemporary, new and beautiful avtaar..
Starting with the traditional maang tikka on Indian brides....
